About
My name is Jack Eapen. I’m currently working with SunTec Business Solutions, Trivandrum. I have interests in Knowledge Management, Digital Libraries, Open Source Softwares, Orthodox Christianity, etc. I’m the proverbial one-’Jack of MANY (not all) trades, but master of none!
My native place is a small village called Niranam in Kerala (Yes, the God’s Own Country) in South India. Niranam is a beautiful village with many notable features:
- It’s one of the first villages in India which embraced Christianity in AD 52, when St.Thomas, the Apostle of Christ came there
- 3 great poets called Niranam Poets lived in our village during 15th century who contributed a lot to the Malayalam language
I had primary education at Niranam South MTLP School to which I owe lot for moulding me. Then I moved to MGM Tiruvalla for my High School. I completed my matriculation in 1993 and then Pre-Degree from S B College Changanacherry in 1995. Then I joined DB Pampa College,Parumala for BSc(Physics). But following some unfortunate events in the campus (nothing to do with me), I shifted to St Aloysius College, Edathua in second year and completed my degree from there in 1998. After that I joined Dept of Physics at Cochin University of Science and Technology for my MSc(Physics) but after 1 month I changed my mind. Then I joined School of Pure& Applied Physics at Mahatma Gandhi University,Kottayam for my MSc. I completed that in 2001. Then I moved to Delhi to pursue the Associateship in Information Science(AIS) course at National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources(erstwhile INSDOC), a premier institute of CSIR. I completed AIS in 2002.
In November 2002, I joined HelpAge India, New Delhi a premier NGO working for the disadvantaged elderly of India, as Information Officer. I shifted to the US Agency for International Development’s (USAID) India Urban Health Program (EHP India) in November 2004 as a Consultant- Library & Website Management. In November 2005, EHP-India is incorporated as Urban Health Resource Centre (UHRC)-a non-profit company. I left UHRC in April 2006 to join SunTec Business Solutions Pvt Ltd., Trivandrum Kerala. Presently I’m with SunTec as Knowledge Management Executive.
I’m married to Asha Mathew whom I met at SunTec. We tied the knots on 12th November 2006.
